Jews have been part of Panama since the 1800s: Kol Shearith Israel was founded in 1876, and families from Syria and the Middle East arrived with the building of the canal. Today the community is centered in Bella Vista, Punta Paitilla and Punta Pacífica, with dozens of kosher restaurants and several synagogues within walking distance of each other.

You'll see the community's main shuls (from outside, or inside when a visit can be arranged), hear its story from the canal days to today, and finish with a meal at a kosher restaurant.
